I want to make my own kernel and use the latest 16.04 rootfs.
I want to add RTL8192CU drivers to the kernel.I donot know which kernel is the best for miqi. Because, there are 3 main repos in the github. They are https://github.com/mqmaker/miqi-linux-kernel , https://github.com/mmind/linux-rockchip, https://github.com/rockchip-linux/kernel/. They maintain different branches of the linux kernel.Which kernel is the stable one, 3.10, 3.14, 4.4 or 4.7? Will the kernel and the 16.04 rootfs become the stable combination for miqi board?
I want to use the latest stable rootfs of http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-base/releases/16.04.2/release/ubuntu-base-16.04.2-base-armhf.tar.gz. But the build.sh requires .img file. There is no tutorial of making img of the rootfs for miqi board.
Which version of linaro toolchain is the best for cross building the kernel for miqi board?
How can I update the rootfs or the kernel to the miqi board seperately using upgrade_tool_v1.21? I have failed updating the kernel when I used @benn 's http://down.mqmaker.com/MiQi/Firmwares/linux_type/ubuntu-release/miqi_ubuntucore_1604_fw.img.gz. Maybe the uboot is different. It is confusing.
Very good questions, indeed!
Check Armbian build system:
Thanks!I am using armbian after I found your post. I will try to configure the kernel for my RTL8192CU usb wifi adapter.
However, as the https://www.armbian.com/miqi/ said, MALI and video acceleration libraries are not installed yet. Does it mean that I cannot use opencl to accelerate image processing in rk3288? Is there any way that I can install the MALI libraries?
Have you used https://arm-software.github.io/ComputeLibrary/? Does absence of MALI libraries affect the invoke of the ComputeLibrary?
This means we didn't do anything specific - in general we don't do with MALI and video acceleration, but I guess it's possible to bring this in.
I have made a customized armbian system for my MIQI board. However, I cannot get into the loader mode to write the new image after I have flashed official armbian miqi system. How can I get into the loader mode?
You mean you can't boot it from SD card? It always boots from eMMC?
I am not using SD card. Only eMMC. How can I get into the loader or maskrom mode using SD card?
