Hello. First of all thank you for your project.
Witi board looks pretty nice.
But there are some specific questions about using it as NAS core.
I strongly believe that it is great as router.
But i want to clarify some things about witi as NAS-server.
So here we go.
After configuring software with some vital parts as mdadm / dm-raid support, iperf, hdparm, nfs, ftp, sshfs and so forth i started performance tests.
All links were setted up to 1Gbps. and fun begins.
Sata-drive connected directly to sata with hdparm:
hdparm -tT /dev/sda
Timing buffer-cache reads: 96 MB in 0.51 seconds = 192400 kB/s
Timing buffered disk reads: 123 MB in 3.01 seconds = 41840 kB/s
which is ok.
dd shows same speed.
SMB: something close to 15 MB/sec reading and up to 20 MB/sec while writing (!)
NFS: something close to 17-20 MB/sec both ways
FTP: ~15 MB/sec
iperf: 370 mbit/sec (sometimes up to 400)
In each test LA and top show full utilization of one core by specific transfer process (smbd,nfsd,proftpd).
iperf with udp shows bandwidth close to 1 Gbps.
Switching eth0 irq to separated core doesn't change anything.
So here is my question: are these numbers just ok and it is the very limit of the MTK core, or i'm doing it wrong?
